Sample Sale - July 18th & 19th

As we wait for next season's dresses to start coming in we start to look around the store and realize - "We have no room!"  So about twice a year we like to have sample sales.  We sell gowns that have either been discontinued or are from previous seasons.  This is a great opportunity to purchase a gown that may be a little outside your projected budget or if you don't have the 6-9 months it takes to order a gown.  We have scheduled our sample sale for July 18th & 19th and you will definitely want to schedule an appointment for this event.

Some things to keep in mind when shopping a sample sale:
1. The gowns are sold in "as is" condition.  Some of the samples might be missing a button or two or have a little soil on the hem - but if you are saving over $2,000 I'd say no big deal as both of these issues are easily resolved by either a seamstress or a professional cleaner.
2. Most of the gowns are all bridal sample sizes.  Bridal sample size is generally a size 10, but run a little smaller than ready to wear sizes.  That being said, we do have some samples in smaller and larger sizes and samples are often alterable to make them larger or smaller - it truly depends on the particular garment.
3. Make sure you have a good idea of what you want and like in a dress.  The first time you go dress shopping should not be at a sample sale.  Sample sales are truly best for those who have a clear idea (or even a specific) dress in mind.  You don't want to spend and hour trying on ball gowns only to discover that what you really want are sheaths and they have already been picked over.
We look forward to seeing you at the big event!

Brides Connecticut Fall/Winter Issue

The latest issue of Brides Connecticut hit the newsstands last week.

I was interviewed by one of the editors on some of my favorite gowns from the last season.  I am "patiently" waiting for the designers to deliver these beautiful gowns to the store.  Click on the image to read the article.

My ad in this issue.  One of my favorite Monique Lhuillier gowns and some great pictures of the new store.

Romona Keveza Trunk Show Recap

We had a fantastic trunk show this past weekend with the Romona Keveza Legends collection.  There were a few dresses that I really threw me for a loop by how much I loved them.

This gowns is fantastic.  The fit of this dress is like a glove.  Also - in person the black sash is very dramatic and elegant.  I love the idea of wearing an ivory or white sash for the ceremony and then changing to a black sash for the reception.  The sweetheart neckline is lovely and so flattering.  This gown will be added to my collection very soon!

I am in love with this little jacket.  It isn't quite a jacket or bolero - and it isn't a cap sleeve - but it is just a touch of interest that is really intriguing.  Romona Keveza loves the idea of having two looks - one for ceremony and something slightly different for reception.  This goes in line with the black sash idea from above.  Just a slight change that creates a new look for the party!

What do you think?  Anyone have any plans on changing their look from ceremony to reception on their wedding day?
